Annual Alumni Reunion

The Department of English, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics hosted the first Annual Alumni Reunion on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Alumni, emeriti, faculty, students, and friends of the department came together to celebrate and reconnect with past classmates and professors. The evening began with an informal reception outdoors filled with conversation and continued with a theatrical presentation of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, performed by CSUF students from the College of the Arts. Proceeds from the evening will support the Department's Writer in Residence Program that is scheduled to begin in the 2013 spring semester. The Writer-in- Residence will be selected from qualified local creative writers and invited to join our faculty for the semester, teaching one of the department's creative writing workshop courses, providing open workshops for our majors, and sharing his or her work at public readings. We are eager to bring one of the many talented poets, playwrights, fiction, or non-fiction writers from our region into the department so students can learn about creative writing from a practicing writer. The Writer-in-Residence will serve as a model and "real world" advisor for the ever-growing number of aspiring young writers and will add to the breadth and vibrancy of our creative writing course offerings.
